Resin Pricing, Lead Times, and Holiday Hours – Summer 2019

It’s been a few months since our last update, so we thought it would be a good time to touch base with you.

Many major resin suppliers implemented a $.03/lb increase in May, and they’re already talking about more increases in June and July. It’s too soon to know if those will go through as well, but right now we hope to keep your prices steady. If the market changes drastically, we’ll always reevaluate, but our main goal is your customer satisfaction and a consistent ordering experience during minor market fluctuations.

As for lead times, we’re currently looking at 2 to 3 weeks for all bag types. The summer is usually quite busy for us, so if you know you have an order coming up, now would be a good time to let us know so we can schedule appropriately.

We also wanted to make you aware that we will be closed July 4 and July 5 so our employees can enjoy a much-deserved extended weekend. If you have placed or will need to place an order that requires delivery around that time, please note that it will likely ship before or after those days.

If you have any questions about this update, please email us or just give us a call at (800) 272-2634.

Thank you for your continued business, and we hope to hear from you soon.

How the Weather Is Affecting Your Orders

As you’re well aware, the weather in the Midwest this week has interrupted business as usual for many—including us.

Unfortunately, most trucking companies have postponed pickups all week, and it appears it will remain that way through Friday. As the weather begins to clear, our carriers will begin picking up orders and will have them to you as soon as it is possible.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you and your fellow employees are staying safe and warm during these unexpected circumstances.

If you have any questions about the status of your order, please send us an email or give us a call at (800) 272-2634.

Resin and Lead Time Outlook – Fall 2018

It’s been a few months since our last update, so we thought it would be a good time to touch base with you.

The resin market was relatively stable over the summer, so we’ve tried to keep our own pricing stable as well. The cost of freight and other operating expenses continue to rise, but so far we haven’t found it necessary to pass much of those increases on to our customers.

As for lead times, we’re currently looking at 2 to 3 weeks for all bag types. October and November are usually busy months for us, so if you know you have an order coming up, now would be a good time to let us know so we can schedule appropriately.

If you have any questions or comments about this update or would like to place an order, please send us an email or call us at (800) 272-2634. However you choose to contact us, we’ll be happy to help you get the bags you need at a competitive price.

Thank you for your business, and we hope to hear from you soon.

It’s Been a While—How About a Resin Pricing and Lead Time Update?

It’s been a few months since our last resin pricing update, so we thought it would be a good time to bring you up to speed on recent developments.

The $.04/lb resin price increase that was on the table for February did go through, but a $.03/lb decrease announced by many producers in March erased much of it. Since then, the market has remained fairly flat, but there’s now a $.03/lb increase on the table for June. As we like to say, it’s too early to tell if that increase will go through, but we will let you know of any major developments.

As for lead times, we’re currently looking at 2 to 3 weeks for all bag types. July is usually a busy month for us, so if you know you have an order coming up, now would be a good time to let us know so we can schedule appropriately.

If you have any questions or would like to place an order, feel free to send us a message, use our quote form, or just call us at (800) 272-2634. However you choose to get in touch, we’ll be happy to help you get the bags you need at a competitive price.

Thank you for your business, and we hope to hear from you soon.

We Are Now ISO 9001:2015 Certified!

We are thrilled to announce we’ve received our ISO 9001:2015 certification! This new standard replaces our previous ISO 9001:2008 certification and is effective immediately.

The biggest change to the standard is the new core concept of risk-based thinking. While this has always been part of the standard, the new version gives it increased prominence. In short, risk-based thinking is used to prioritize processes and drive improvement. This focus is intended to prevent undesirable outcomes such as nonconforming products and services.

ISO 9001:2015 brings a number of other benefits as well, including putting greater emphasis on leadership engagement, addressing supply chain management more effectively, and using simplified language and a common structure and terms. Overall, these changes are intended to allow organizations to focus less on documentation and more on managing processes.

One other change of note is that the new ISO 9001:2015 has seven quality management principles compared to the eight principles of our previous certification:

  1. Customer focus
  2. Leadership
  3. Engagement of people
  4. Process approach
  5. Improvement
  6. Evidence-based decision making
  7. Relationship management

As we mentioned in a previous blog post, our ISO certification is only the starting point for a successful customer relationship—we have to prove our products and services are as great as we say they are. Whether you’ve been a customer of ours for years or you’re just researching new poly bag suppliers, we look forward to offering you the high-quality products and customer service you deserve.

If you have any questions about our ISO 9001:2015 certification, please feel free to give us a call at (800) 272-2634 or send us a note through our contact page.

Resin Pricing and Lead Times: Where We’ve Been and Where We Are Right Now

Happy New Year! We hope 2018 is off to a great start for you both personally and professionally.

Well, 2017 was quite a wild year for polyethylene pricing. The best summary we’ve seen comes from a recent Plastics Exchange newsletter, so let’s take a look:

“The market rallied in the 1st quarter and bottomed out near the end of the second quarter. It staged a modest recovery during the summer for what should have been its last hurrah before several new polyethylene plants came online with added production. Hurricane Harvey then rocked the market and sent prices absolutely soaring. The market peaked in mid-Sept and has been sliding ever since. Most PE resins still remain several cents higher for the year, but grades did not necessarily move together or to the same magnitude.”

Indeed, while prices have been trending down since the steep increases last fall, they’re still ahead of where they were for much of last year. What’s more, resin rose $.01/lb over the last week, and one producer just nominated another increase for February of $.04/lb. While it’s too early to tell if that will take hold, there are some rumblings that other producers will follow suit. As always, we will keep you updated on any major developments.

As for our schedule, we’re currently looking at 2- to 3-week lead times, and we expect those to tighten up a bit now that the holidays are behind us and 2018 is in full swing. If you’re planning any orders for the next month or two, now would be a great time to reorder or request a quote.

If you have any questions or comments about this update or would like to place an order, please let us know. Thank you for your continued business, and we look forward to serving you.
